IMAT 2025 is finally here. After months of mock tests, long study hours, and constant practice, exam day has arrived. This is the moment you’ve been preparing for.
But here’s the truth: doing well on the IMAT is not just about solving 60 questions in 100 minutes—it’s also about staying calm, following the rules, and avoiding silly mistakes that could cost you your seat.
At ITMedAcademy, we’ve seen students make small errors on exam day (like forgetting their passport or arriving late) that ruined months of preparation. That’s why we’ve prepared this complete IMAT exam day guide: official instructions + practical tips to help you perform at your best.
Official IMAT 2025 Exam Instructions
These rules come directly from Universitaly, CINECA, and IMAT official guidelines.
1. Documents You Must Carry
- A valid photo ID – the same one you used when registering on Universitaly (passport or national ID card).
- Your exam booking/registration confirmation. Print it out; don’t just rely on your phone.
- If you’re under 18, check if your center requires a parental consent form.
👉 Tip: Put these documents in your bag the night before so you don’t forget in the morning.
2. Allowed Items in the Exam Hall
- A transparent water bottle (without labels).
- A black pen (some centers provide it, but bring one just in case).
- That’s it—travel light.
Everything else stays outside.
3. Prohibited Items (Leave These at Home)
Every year, students lose focus because of rules violations. Don’t be one of them. The following are strictly forbidden inside the exam hall:
- ❌ Phones, smartwatches, calculators, earbuds, or any electronic device.
- ❌ Bags, wallets, notes, or books.
- ❌ Scrap paper (you’ll use the booklet margins).
- ❌ Jewelry or accessories that could hide devices.
All personal items will be stored in lockers or with staff. If something is found on you, your test may be cancelled immediately.
4. Timing & Exam Format
- Arrival: Be there 30–60 minutes before reporting time. Latecomers are not allowed in, no matter the excuse.
- Duration: 100 minutes.
- Structure: 60 multiple-choice questions:
- 9 Logical Reasoning & General Knowledge
- 23 Biology
- 15 Chemistry
- 12 Physics & Mathematics
- Scoring: +1.5 for correct, –0.4 for wrong, 0 for blank.
5. Inside the Exam Hall
- You’ll be given a sealed envelope with your question paper, answer sheet, and barcode stickers.
- Wait for invigilators to announce when to open it.
- Fill in your personal data only when told.
- Keep silent, don’t try to talk or look around.
- If you need the restroom, raise your hand and wait for permission.
- When time ends, stop writing immediately. Even one extra mark can be considered misconduct.
Practical Tips for IMAT Exam Day
Now that you know the official rules, here are real tips from ITMedAcademy mentors and past students:
The Night Before
- Sleep is more important than last-minute revision. Get 7–8 hours of rest.
- Pack your ID, confirmation printout, pen, and water bottle before bed.
- Eat something light and avoid heavy meals that could make you sluggish.
The Morning of the Exam
- Eat a healthy breakfast: oats, fruit, eggs, or toast. Avoid oily or very spicy food.
- Drink enough water but don’t overdo coffee—you don’t want jitters.
- Leave early. Unexpected delays (traffic, long check-in lines) can add stress.
During the Exam
- Start with the section you feel strongest in. This builds momentum.
- Don’t get stuck on a hard question—circle it and return later.
- Mark answers directly on the answer sheet as you go. Don’t leave it for the end.
- If nerves kick in, take 3 slow breaths, reset, and continue.
After the Exam
- Hand in everything properly—follow invigilator instructions.
- Walk out with your head high. You’ve completed IMAT 2025.
- Avoid the “post-exam discussion trap.” Talking about answers with others only creates anxiety.
The IMAT is not just an exam—it’s the doorway to your dream of studying medicine in Italy. You’ve worked hard to reach here. On exam day, trust your preparation, follow the rules, and stay calm.
At ITMedAcademy, we’re proud of every student who’s walking into the IMAT hall this year. Remember, no matter the result, you’ve already proven your dedication.
✨ Best of luck for IMAT 2025—you’ve got this!
